So, we REALLY wanted/want Kristen to feel as much a part of this pregnancy/new baby stuff as she can, and so we thought, what better way than to let her announce it at our school! (She attends the same school at which I teach.) So we gave her copies of the ultrasound pics, put her in this adorable shirt, and let her loose! She had an AWESOME time announcing to the teachers, students, and anyone else who would listen. Meanwhile, I got in quite a few laughs while everyone tried to figure out what her shirt meant. ;)
P.S. I have to admit that I stole this idea from my brother and sister-in-law who put my nephew Caleb in a "big brother" shirt at his 1st birthday party to announce their 2nd pregnancy with Carson (who is coming Monday!)

how we broke the news to kristen
We knew that we wanted to tell Kristen before we told a bunch of other people, so we pretty much kept the pregnancy to ourselves, minus our parents and siblings and a few close friends (a couple of whom guessed!) We knew that if we told more than that, the news would get back to Kristen, and we wanted it to come from us. We also knew that once we told her, we would have to be ready to tell everyone else. (She's not the best secret keeper!) We initially wanted to wait a little longer to tell her, but she was wondering why I kept eating Saltine crackers for dinner, and was tired all the time. My doctor wanted me to come in around 7 weeks for an ultrasound because of a previous miscarriage, and some fertility issues, so we decided that if everything went well at that appointment, we would tell her that night. It went great, and so here's how we told her:
1. We took her to our favorite restaurant (Mexican- yummy!) In hindsight, I probably should have moved the cup! haha:
2. We bought her gifts:
3. She said she is, "very happy." about being a big sister.
4. We asked her what babies need and she said, "A crate, a rattle, covers, and a pillow."
5. We asked her what big sisters do and she said, "Change diapers, and help mommy get the room ready."
